Murder Mystery: Death in the Shadows in CBD, Brisbane

it was good for the cardio but wished the challenges had more clues with the surroundings of each location when we arrived at each location that we went to. Love the self guided aspect of it, and the fact that we didn’t have to climb the hill. Definitely recommend to do as a pair or group to add to the fun. The graphics , clues and Hints were very handy and interactive. I thoroughly enjoyed playing along. 🤗 Will definitely do another Questo challenge!

What are fun things to do in Brisbane with toddlers?

The best option for families is Kid Quest: The Day the Senses Went Silent. Designed for kids ages 5–10, it’s a playful story where children team up with Robert and his animal friends to bring back the five senses. Along the way, you’ll explore Brisbane’s streets at your own pace—solving simple puzzles and enjoying time together outdoors.

Is there a murder mystery adventure in Brisbane?

Yes! Murder Mystery: Death in the Shadows of Brisbane is an outdoor detective game where you investigate the mysterious death of Bella Wanderlust. As you walk through the city—past landmarks like King George Square and the riverside—you’ll collect clues, solve riddles, and try to uncover the killer.

What’s a good quest for a date in Brisbane?

For couples, we recommend Murder Mystery or Colonial Brisbane. They let you walk hand in hand through South Bank, Fortitude Valley, and other lively parts of Brisbane while solving puzzles together. It’s more interactive than a movie and more memorable than a dinner out.

Are these quests good for groups of friends or coworkers?

Yes—quests are perfect for groups. You can all work together to crack the case or split into teams and see who finishes first. Popular choices for groups include Murder Mystery and The Oz Escape, both filled with puzzles and plenty of laughs.

Do I need to book in advance?

No booking required. All Brisbane quests are self-guided, so you can play anytime—weekdays, weekends, morning, or evening. Just download the Questo app, head to the starting point, and begin when you’re ready.

Walk through Brisbane with Questo's self-guided walking tours. Follow app-guided clues through South Bank's cultural precinct, past the Story Bridge, and into the laneway bars of Fortitude Valley. River City stories, at your own pace, no guide needed.

About Brisbane

Brisbane is Queensland's riverside capital, and Questo turns it into a self-guided outdoor escape game you play on your own phone. Pick a quest, follow the clues, solve puzzles, and let real stories about the city unfold step by step as you walk.

The quests cover a wide range of moods. Some dig into Brisbane's colonial and convict history, some are puzzle trails through the old streets, and others are relaxed explorations along the river and through the central parks. You set the pace and the route is yours, with no guide and no fixed start time.

Along the way you pass the landmarks that define the city. Queen Street Mall and King George Square sit at its heart, Brisbane City Hall and its clock tower look over the square, and the Old Windmill in Spring Hill is the oldest building still standing in Brisbane. The City Botanic Gardens and the South Bank parklands frame the water, while Story Bridge ties the two banks together.

Two local favourites are worth building into your day. Streets Beach at South Bank is Australia's only inner-city beach, a free lagoon with lifeguards in the middle of town. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs, just across the river, are the spot locals pick for sunset, with the skyline glowing over the water. They suit couples after a different kind of date, families keeping kids curious, friends out for the day, or anyone exploring solo. Grab your phone, pick a quest, and start whenever you like.
