Black Church
About Black Church
The Black Church is the most iconic landmark of Brașov and one of the largest Gothic churches in Eastern Europe. Originally named Saint Mary's Church, the building earned its current name after being blackened by smoke from the great fire of 1689. It houses a rich collection of Oriental rugs and a famous organ that hosts concerts throughout the year.
Best Time/Season to Visit:
The church is open year-round, but visiting during an organ concert or service can be especially rewarding, providing not just a visual, but also an auditory experience of the Gothic masterpiece.
