Grand-Place context
A civic square rebuilt after bombardment
Brussels’ Grand-Place brings together the medieval Town Hall and richly decorated guild houses, many rebuilt after French bombardment devastated the square in 1695. The result reflects both destruction and coordinated reconstruction by the city’s guilds. This quest uses time travel as fiction while the architecture, civic competition and rebuilding provide the real historical journey.
