Frequently asked questions

What will we see in Copenhagen's hippie area, Freetown Christiania?
The route takes you through the free-spirited neighbourhood to the Christiania Art Gallery, Månefiskeren Cafe, a cargo bike shop, a scrap metal sculpture, Den Grå Hal (The Grey Hall), the "Say No To Hard Drugs" banner and Green George the troll, with stories and puzzles along the way.
Where does the Christiania walk start and finish?
It starts at the Church of Our Saviour and loops back there at the end, after passing through Christiania and out via its main entrance. You can begin whenever you like, as there is no fixed departure time and no guide to meet.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Plan on about an hour for roughly 1.5 km on foot. The walk is outdoors and works best during the day. You can pause the game at any point and pick it up again later if you stop for a coffee or a look around.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is recommended for families, and one stop is the Stupa and kids' zone. The puzzles use real clues you spot around you, so it suits children old enough to enjoy searching and reading. Note the route also passes a banner about hard drugs.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest, and you play together on your phones. There is no time slot to book: start whenever suits you and follow the clues at your own pace.
Is Copenhagen Hippie Freetown Christiania self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you without a tour guide or fixed departure.

Christiania context

A former military area occupied in 1971

Its relationship with the Danish state has changed repeatedly. The quest story is fictional; Christiania’s social experiments, conflicts and continuing community are real. Playable languages: English, German, Dutch, Spanish, French.
