The mission: Your story in Sydney

(Feel free to listen while walking)

On a stormy night of August 1857, the Dunbar finally reaches the shores of Sydney after 81 days at sea.

Departed from Plymouth (England), this three-masted sailing ship was on it's second journey to Australia, under the commands of Captain James Green. On the ship were 63 passengers, 59 crew and cargo.

Your name is James Johnson, a 20 years old crewman, performing your last duties on The Dunbar. Little did you know that your life was about to change forever...

Dunbar shipwreck context

A real 1857 maritime disaster at the entrance to Sydney Harbour

The passenger ship Dunbar struck cliffs near South Head during a storm in August 1857. Of more than 120 people aboard, James Johnson was the sole survivor, rescued from the rocks after the wreck was discovered. This quest follows the Watsons Bay landscape connected with that documented disaster and uses a story-led walk without changing the identity or scale of the event. Playable languages: English.
