The adventure

About this quest

Forget every ghost story you've heard about this city. This Halloween, ten restless spirits are loose on its streets. 👻 No history book knows their names. No tour guide has heard of them. Most are just lost souls. One is lying to you. 💀
A hooded Oracle needs a ghost hunter. Every spirit is stuck on unfinished business: solve its mystery, catch it, and it gives up a clue. Follow the trail across town, crack ciphers and riddles (some only the street itself can answer), then name the Evil One and destroy it before it finds you. 🕷️

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Starting from LBC, this San Diego route covers about 2.3 km in around 90 minutes, as ten Halloween spirits each hide a mystery you solve with ciphers, riddles and clues found on the street. Escape-room regulars who would rather play than listen will enjoy it, as will friends after a spooky evening out. If you want a live guide retelling the city's known legends, book a guided night walk instead.

Frequently asked questions

What are good reasons to take a ghost tour in San Diego this way?
You start whenever you like instead of waiting for a fixed night slot, and you play rather than listen. Ten invented spirits each carry unfinished business, and you solve their mysteries, collect clues, crack ciphers and riddles across town, then name and destroy the Evil One.
Is this like a Halloween escape room in San Diego?
It uses escape-room style puzzles, but outdoors on the streets instead of in a locked room. You solve ciphers and riddles, some answerable only by looking at what is in front of you, and follow a trail of clues to find which of ten spirits is lying.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The walk begins at the first point shown in the app, labelled LBC. Plan on around 90 minutes to cover about 2.3 km, and you can pause and continue later if you need a break.
Is it suitable for kids?
It suits older kids and teens best. The story is spooky, with lost souls and an Evil One to destroy, and the ciphers and riddles take some reasoning. Younger children who scare easily or tire of puzzles may find it too much.
Do we need to book a time, and what if it rains?
No booking slot is needed: you start any time, without a guide or other groups, and one ticket covers your whole group. The route is outdoors on city streets, so bring a jacket or umbrella if rain is forecast.
Is Ghost Hunt in San Diego self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you between locations without a tour guide or fixed departure. Start when it suits you and pause if needed.
Where does Ghost Hunt in San Diego start and finish?
It starts at Point 1 - LBC, 1160 Coast Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA and finishes at Point 12, 1160 Coast Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA. The route is approximately 2.3 km and includes 12 location-based puzzles.
What is included with Duo and Fellowship?
Duo provides access on 2 devices. Fellowship provides access on up to 5 devices, so each included player can follow the experience on their own phone.
