The adventure

About this quest

All roads lead to Rome. But roads work both ways. Augustus knew that better than anyone. While the world was busy marching toward Rome, he was quietly moving his most dangerous secrets out. He needed a place to hide the Imperial Regalia and he chose this city to keep them safe.
This wasn't some random choice; it was a calculated move. He left the location with one man, who encoded the map across landmarks using symbols carved into the city's oldest stones. Those marks are still there, hiding in plain sight while you grab your morning coffee or walk to work.
You receive the first clue from a source who refuses to identify themselves. The greatest personal treasury ever assembled is waiting for someone with the right eyes to find it. Are you ready to claim what Augustus left behind?

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Couples, groups of friends and families with teens who like a treasure hunt will follow Augustus's hidden map through the lanes around Piazza Navona, reading clues in fountains, statues and old stones across 14 stops. It takes around 90 minutes and about 2.3 km on foot. If you want a live guide to quiz on Roman history, or your children are too young for code-breaking, choose something else.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Rome treasure hunt start and which places does it pass?
It starts in Piazza Navona. From there the route links 14 stops, including the Fontana del Moro, Piazza di Pasquino, Palazzo Braschi, the Giordano Bruno monument in Campo de' Fiori, Largo di Torre Argentina, the Terme di Agrippa and the Basilica di Santa Maria sopra Minerva.
How long does it take and how far will we walk?
Plan on around 90 minutes and about 2.3 km of walking through the historic centre. You set the pace, and you can pause the game, stop for a coffee or lunch, and continue later from where you left off.
What is the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi called in English, and is it on the route?
In English it is the Fountain of the Four Rivers, the large fountain at the centre of Piazza Navona. It is one of the stops on this route, where the app tells its story and sets a puzzle based on what you can see in front of you.
Is it suitable for children?
It suits teens and older children best. The story follows Augustus hiding the Imperial Regalia, and the puzzles ask you to spot and decode symbols in the city's old stones and monuments. Younger children can join in but will likely need adults to solve most clues.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book: start whenever you like, with no guide and no other group. One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so everyone can follow the clues on their own phone. The whole route is outdoors.
Is the lost gold story real?
No. The treasure story is fictional, while Rome and the city locations on the route are real.
Is this a guided treasure tour?
No. The app guides you from clue to clue without a guide, group or fixed departure.
How many tickets does our group need?
This classic quest sells access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
