No, it is a self-guided ghost walk played on your phone. The app leads you between haunted places, tells the story of each one and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you start whenever you like.
Where does the ghost walk start and finish?
It starts at Hotel Prins Hendrik and finishes at Westerkerk, so it does not return to the start. Along the 4.7 km route you pass Weepers Tower, Spooksteeg, Bloedstraat, Nieuwmarkt, Montelbaan Tower, Dam Square, Torensluis Bridge and the Homomonument, among other stops.
How long does it take?
Most players take a little over three hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it is easy to stop for food or a drink along the way.
Can we play as a group, and is it suitable for kids?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together. The quest is recommended for families, but the story is about ghosts and haunts, so it suits older children and teens who enjoy a spooky tale and can manage a walk of a little over three hours.
Do we need to book a time, and is it a night walk?
There is no fixed time slot to book: you start whenever suits you. Although the theme is haunted Amsterdam, the route is best played during the day, when the streets, alleys and landmarks along the way are easier to explore.
