Frequently asked questions

What is the Oz experience in Pittsburgh?
It is an outdoor, escape-room-style game played on your phone. A new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's 1900 Oz novel sends you and a team of misfits to outsmart the witch by solving puzzles at real places, with original Oz-themed songs you can also play at home.
Is the Oz escape an event on a set date, or can we go any time?
It is not a scheduled event. There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet, so you can start whenever suits your group, including today, and pause partway through to continue later.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
You start at the Millennium Panther Statue on Bigelow Blvd and finish back at the same spot. The loop covers about 2.4 km around the University of Pittsburgh area in Oakland and takes around 90 minutes, depending on how quickly you solve the puzzles.
Can we play as a group, or does it work solo?
Both work. Friends, families and work or birthday groups can team up to crack the puzzles together, and one ticket covers your whole group. If you play alone, you face the witch's challenges solo and compete against the leaderboard.
Is it played outdoors?
Yes. The whole game takes place outside on city streets, moving between stops such as the Latin American Cultural Center, Schenley Place and the William Pitt Union, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for the 2.4 km walk.
