About this quest

Milan, 1499. The French army is approaching, and Leonardo da Vinci must leave the city he has called home for almost twenty years.

Before he can escape, help him recover his drawings, notes and inventions hidden across Milan. Follow Leonardo through the city he helped shape, solve puzzles along the way, and discover the artist, engineer and inventor behind one of history’s greatest minds.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Leonardo walk start and finish?
It starts at Arco di Porta Ticinese and finishes at Santa Maria delle Grazie, so it does not return to the start. Along the way it passes the colonne San Lorenzo, Santa Maria presso San Satiro, Piazza del Duomo, Piazza Castello, Piazza Cadorna and Casa Atellani.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take just over two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 4.2 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so you can stop for a coffee or a break without losing your progress.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is family friendly and works well for school-age children who enjoy a story about Leonardo's drawings and inventions. The puzzles are of medium difficulty, and children under 12 should be guided by their parents while playing.
Do we need to buy tickets or book a time?
No. The game is free to play, no attraction tickets are needed for the route, and there is no group or set time to book. You can start whenever you like, though it is best played during the day.
Is there anything to know before setting out?
The whole route is outdoors in the streets of central Milan, so dress for the weather. Some checkpoints may have temporary construction work nearby, and daylight makes it easier to spot the details the puzzles ask about.
