Is this a self-guided ghost tour of Edinburgh?
Yes. You play it on your phone with no guide and no fixed departure time. The app leads you between 11 stops, tells the dark stories of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. It is best played at night, and your phone flashlight can help with clues.
Does the ghost walk include Edinburgh Castle?
Yes. Edinburgh Castle is the third stop, after The Mound and the Witches Well. As with every place on the route, you stay outside: going into the sites is not part of the experience, so the stories and puzzles work from the street.
Where is the Greyfriars Bobby statue on the route?
The Greyfriars Bobby statue is the eighth stop. You reach it after Surgeons' Hall Museums, and it leads straight on to Greyfriars Kirkyard, followed by the Grassmarket and the finish at West Bow.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at The Mound and finishes at West Bow, so it is not a loop. The route covers 2.9 km, and most players take about two and a quarter hours, walking and puzzles included.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no time slot to book: start whenever suits you, ideally after dark, and pause and carry on later if you need a break along the way.
