Is this a ghost tour of Madrid?
It is a self-guided ghost walk played on your phone. You take on the role of the ghost of the painter Diego Velázquez and follow clues to save your lost soul. There is no guide and no set departure time. The app tells the story of each place and sets the puzzles.
Do we go inside haunted places in Madrid?
No. Entering the places is not part of the experience. You stay outside at each checkpoint, such as the Velázquez Monument at the Prado, the Statue of Carlos III and the Monument to Philip IV, and solve puzzles from what you can see there. Some checkpoints may have temporary construction work.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The walk starts and finishes at the Real Church of Saint James and Saint John the Baptist, so you end where you began. The route covers about 2.7 km and takes around 90 minutes, passing stops such as Puerta del Sol, the Literary Quarter and the Royal Palace area.
Can we do it at night, and do we need to book a time?
The walk is best at night, and you can start whenever you like without booking a slot. Some clues may be easier to read with your phone flashlight, so keep your battery charged. You can also pause the game and continue later if you want to stop along the way.
