The experience

About this quest

Barcelona, dusk. You are T. F. Specter—renowned author of ghost stories, now haunted by writer’s block. In search of inspiration, you wander the shadowy alleys of the Gothic Quarter, where ancient whispers and restless spirits await.

According to local legend, a hidden ghost trail runs through this part of the city. Many have felt it. Few have followed it. Fewer still returned unchanged.

Will you brave the path and uncover the stories waiting in the dark?

This quest invites you on a mysterious walking adventure through one of Barcelona’s oldest neighborhoods. Solve real-world puzzles, follow eerie clues, and explore unforgettable corners of the city. Share the chills with friends or family, and turn fear into memories. Just... don’t lose your pen—or your way.

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Ghost-story and horror fans, couples and friends get a spooky evening walk through the Gothic Quarter, playing a haunted writer chasing legends from Santa Maria del Pi to the Cathedral over close to two hours and 2.9 km. It is best after dark, flashlight in hand. Anyone wanting a live guide to tell the tales, or children easily scared by dark alleys, should pick something lighter.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a self-guided ghost tour in Barcelona?
Yes. This quest is a self-guided ghost trail through the Gothic Quarter, played on your phone. You play T. F. Specter, a ghost-story author looking for inspiration, and follow local legends from stop to stop, solving puzzles in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no fixed-time group.
Where does the ghost walk start and finish?
It is a loop route that starts at Palau de la Generalitat and finishes at Pont del Bisbe. On the way it passes Santa Maria del Pi, Via Sepulcral Romana, Santa Anna Church, Carrer d'Estruc, Els 4 Gats, Mercat de Santa Caterina, Plaça de Sant Just and the Cathedral of Barcelona.
How long does it take, and when is the best time to go?
Most players take close to two hours, walking and puzzles included, over about 2.9 km. The quest is best played at night, when the alleys feel at their most atmospheric. Bring a phone with charge, as you may want the flashlight to spot some clues.
Does the route pass Plaça de Sant Just?
Yes. Plaça de Sant Just is one of the stops, reached after Mercat de Santa Caterina and just before the Cathedral of Barcelona. The app guides you there on foot, tells the story of the square and sets a puzzle using what you can see around you.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time or go inside the buildings?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together, and you can start whenever you like, with no time slot to book. You can pause and continue later. You do not enter the churches or other places; everything happens outside, so the experience does not depend on opening hours.
Is the Ghosts of Barcelona quest based on a real ghost trail?
The game uses the Gothic Quarter’s atmospheric alleys and local ghost-story tradition as its setting, but its central hidden-trail narrative and T. F. Specter character are fictional.
Is this experience self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you from clue to clue, with no guide or fixed start time. You can begin when it suits you and pause along the way.
How many accesses does our group need?
Classic quests sell access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
