The experience

About this quest

Barcelona, dusk. You are T. F. Specter—renowned author of ghost stories, now haunted by writer’s block. In search of inspiration, you wander the shadowy alleys of the Gothic Quarter, where ancient whispers and restless spirits await.

According to local legend, a hidden ghost trail runs through this part of the city. Many have felt it. Few have followed it. Fewer still returned unchanged.

Will you brave the path and uncover the stories waiting in the dark?

This quest invites you on a mysterious walking adventure through one of Barcelona’s oldest neighborhoods. Solve real-world puzzles, follow eerie clues, and explore unforgettable corners of the city. Share the chills with friends or family, and turn fear into memories. Just... don’t lose your pen—or your way.

Is this for you?

Frequently asked questions

Is there a self-guided ghost tour in Barcelona?
Yes. This is a ghost walk through the Gothic Quarter played on your phone. You take the role of T. F. Specter, a ghost-story author with writer's block, following a legendary ghost trail. The app leads you between places, tells their stories and sets puzzles, with no guide and no fixed group.
Does the route pass Plaça de Sant Just?
Yes. Plaça de Sant Just is one of the stops, along with Pont del Bisbe, the Cathedral of Barcelona, Mercat de Santa Caterina, Els 4 Gats, Carrer d'Estruc, Santa Anna Church, Via Sepulcral Romana and the Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The walk starts and finishes at the Palau de la Generalitat, so you end where you began. The route covers about 2.9 km and takes around 50 minutes, though you can go at your own pace and stop longer at any place.
What is the best time to do it?
It is best played at night, when the alleys feel at their most atmospheric. Some clues may need your phone flashlight. You stay outside throughout, as entering the buildings on the route is not part of the experience.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated. There is no time slot to book, so you can start whenever you like, pause partway and continue later.
Is the Ghosts of Barcelona quest based on a real ghost trail?
The game uses the Gothic Quarter’s atmospheric alleys and local ghost-story tradition as its setting, but its central hidden-trail narrative and T. F. Specter character are fictional.
Is this experience self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you from clue to clue, with no guide or fixed start time. You can begin when it suits you and pause along the way.
How many accesses does our group need?
Classic quests sell access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
