Is this an actual cruise from Aberdeen?
No. Despite the title, there is no boat involved. It is a walking game of about 2 km through the city centre, starting and finishing at the Maritime Museum. The cruise is part of the story, in which you play Captain Blue recovering treasure stolen from a galactic homeland.
Is this a self-guided walking tour of Aberdeen?
Yes. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells you about each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join. Stops include the Music Hall, St. Andrew's Cathedral, the Art Gallery, His Majesty's Theatre and Garden Roof Park.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
It starts at the Maritime Museum and loops back there at the end. Plan on about an hour to cover the 2 km route. You can start whenever you like, so there is no time slot to book, and no attraction tickets are needed along the way.
What if it gets cold or wet while we play?
The route is outdoors, but you can pause and head inside to warm up at almost any location in the game, then continue later from where you stopped. That makes it easier to fit around Aberdeen weather or a coffee break.
Is it good for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is designed with families in mind, mixing a playful treasure story with fun and bizarre facts about the city. No minimum age is set, so it suits children happy to walk 2 km in about an hour. One ticket covers your whole group.
