Frequently asked questions
Where does the Christmas scavenger hunt start?
It starts at Stead Park Recreation Center. From there the app leads you on foot to places including Keegan Theatre, St Thomas Episcopal Church, The Cavanaugh Sculpture Garden, The German Marshall Fund of the United States and Foundry United Methodist Church.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Plan on around 90 minutes for a walk of about 2.3 km across 12 locations. You can pause the game at any point, stop for a hot drink or a break, and continue later from where you left off.
Is it good for kids?
Yes, it is built as a light, funny holiday story with puzzles, dares and characters who tease your team as you go. Children who can follow clues with an adult's help tend to enjoy it most, and the 2.3 km walk suits kids happy to be on their feet for about 90 minutes.
Can we play it as a group or for an office Christmas party?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, and you play on your phones together as Ground Control, solving puzzles and completing dares as a team. That makes it an easy option for coworkers, friends or visiting relatives who want a festive outing without paying per person.
Do we need to book a time, and is it outdoors?
There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet, so you can start whenever suits your group. The game is played outdoors on city streets between stops, so dress for December weather and pause if the rain or cold gets too much.
Is Christmas Operation: Sleigh Down in Washington D.C. self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you between locations without a tour guide or fixed departure. Start when it suits you and pause if needed.
