About this quest

To uncover the forgotten history, to truly live the life of a viking, you have to dig deep. There are past fires, misplacement of artifacts, and mistranslation which have all contributed to the lack of current-day knowledge about this impactful historical event. To do this you have to go through a series of quests!

Who it's for

Viking history fans and families staying in or visiting Östermalm get a short audio-story walk instead of a museum visit. It takes about an hour on foot over 1.3 km, looping from Kungl. Musikhögskolan past Stockholm Stadium and two neighbourhood parks, with puzzles along the way. If you want to see real Viking artifacts behind glass or ask a guide questions, a museum tour will suit you better.

Where does the Viking walk start and finish?
It is a loop that starts and ends at Kungl. Musikhögskolan in Östermalm. In walking order, the route takes you to Stockholm Stadium, Sturegatan park and Löjtnantsgatan 4 park before bringing you back to the music academy where you began.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take about an hour, including walking, listening to the audio stories and solving the puzzles. The whole loop covers 1.3 km. You can pause at any point and continue later if you need a break.
Does it cost anything to play as a group?
No, it is free to play. Friends or family can walk the route together, following the audio stories and working out the puzzles as a group on a phone, with no guide or organised group to join.
Do we need to book a time?
No booking is needed. You start whenever you like at Kungl. Musikhögskolan and the app leads you from stop to stop. It is best played in daylight, as playing at night is not recommended.
What should we bring?
Bring a phone that is fully charged, or a power bank, since the app plays audio stories and guides you along the route. The walk is outdoors through streets and parks, so dress for the weather.
