Sintra

Town Hall

Sintra's station is where most day-trippers arrive from Lisbon, and the walk from the platform into the historic centre sets up the whole visit. The palaces are uphill from here.

Sintra Train Station

Vila Sassetti is a romantic-era estate on the hillside in Sintra, and the winding path through its grounds is one of the pleasanter ways to walk up towards the Pena Palace rather than taking the road.
