Where does the Goethe quest in Frankfurt start and finish?
It starts at the Goethe-Denkmal and finishes at the Kleinmarkthalle, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass the Gutenberg-Denkmal, Goethehaus, Paulskirche, Römerberg, Kaiserdom, Eiserner Steg, Apfelweinkontor and Alte Brücke, in that order.
Does the route include the Römerberg?
Yes. The Römerberg is the fifth stop, reached after the Paulskirche and followed by the Kaiserdom. From there the route crosses the Main on the Eiserner Steg into Sachsenhausen before coming back over the Alte Brücke.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take a little over two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 3.2 km through the Old Town and Sachsenhausen. You can pause along the way and continue later, so you can set your own pace.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time slot?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no fixed start time and no group to join: you start whenever you like from the Goethe-Denkmal and play on your phone without a guide.
What if the weather turns cold?
You can pause the game and go inside to warm up at almost any location on the route, then pick up where you left off. No tickets for attractions are needed along the way, so stopping or continuing is entirely up to you.
Is this a Goethe House guided tour?
No. It is a self-guided outdoor puzzle route inspired by Goethe’s Frankfurt. It complements rather than replaces a museum or guided literary tour.
Is this experience self-guided?
