Frequently asked questions
Is this a self-guided walking tour of Portland?
Yes, though it plays as a holiday story game rather than a classic tour. Your phone leads you through downtown stops such as Keller Auditorium, Pettygrove Park, Ira Keller Fountain Park, Portlandia, Lownsdale Square and Mill Ends Park, setting puzzles and dares at each one while you collect the Elements of Spirit.
Where does the game start and how long does it take?
It starts at Salmon Street Springs and finishes back there, so it works as a loop. The route is about 2.2 km and takes around 90 minutes, depending on how quickly your group solves the puzzles and how long you spend on the dares.
Is it good for kids?
It suits families looking for a Christmas outing. The story is light and silly, with Santa, Sparky and Rudolph cracking jokes, plus puzzles and dares along the way. Children who enjoy riddles and a bit of playful competition tend to get the most out of it, and adults can help with harder clues.
Can we play it as an office Christmas party or group outing?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, so teams and families play together on the same game rather than paying per person. There is no guide and no fixed group to join, which makes it easy to fit around a work party or a visit from relatives.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking slot is needed. You can start whenever suits you, and if you want a break for hot drinks or a meal you can pause the game and carry on later from where you stopped. Keep in mind the whole route is outdoors, so dress for Portland weather.
