About this quest

Welcome to Naples, the fiery heart of pizza’s past and your family’s legacy. As Luca Condurro’s grandson, you’ve kneaded dough in New York - but to rise as a true master, you must walk the cobbled streets of Naples, where the scent of tomato and woodfire tells stories older than memory.

Follow cryptic clues, solve tasty puzzles, and uncover the truth behind your grandfather’s mysterious friend, Don Michele. This real-world quest will challenge your mind, move your feet, and feed your soul.

Bring your friends or family along—because great pizza, like great adventures, is best when shared. Ready to discover what makes a pizza real?

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Pizza lovers, couples and families can walk Naples' old town from one well-known pizzeria to the next, about a dozen in all, solving clues about a grandfather's old friend Don Michele. The 3.3 km loop takes 1.5 to 2 hours, and you choose where to stop and eat. If you would rather have a live guide arrange tastings and answer your questions, a hosted food tour suits you better.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a self-guided pizza walk through Naples' old town?
Yes. This 3.3 km walk starts and ends at L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele and passes pizzerias such as Brandi, Port'Alba, Gino e Toto Sorbillo, Di Matteo and Trianon. Your phone leads the way, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle there, so you can start whenever you like without a guide.
How does the pizza history game work?
You play the grandson of Luca Condurro, a pizza maker trained in New York who comes to Naples to become a true master. At each stop the app tells part of the story, and you solve a puzzle using what is in front of you, slowly uncovering the truth about your grandfather's mysterious friend Don Michele.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours for the 3.3 km route. You can pause at any point and continue later, and at almost every location there is somewhere to step inside if the weather turns cold. Play in daylight, since the quest is not recommended at night.
Is it good for kids?
The quest is tagged family friendly, and the clues and puzzles suit children who enjoy solving riddles as they go. They will need to manage a 3.3 km walk on cobbled streets over 1.5 to 2 hours, so it fits school-age kids better than toddlers. Go during the day.
Do we need to book a time, and can our group share a ticket?
There is no time slot to book. You start whenever you are ready at L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele, and one ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends or family can play together.
What’s the story behind "Real Pizza"?

You’re the grandson of Luca Condurro, a famous New York pizzaiolo. To claim your family legacy, you must follow his grandfather’s footsteps through Naples—solve puzzles, find Don Michele, and learn what makes pizza truly authentic.

Start where, end where, and how long is the walk?

You begin at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele and finish at Pizzeria Brandi. The route is ~3.3 km, takes roughly 89-119 minutes, and about 4,340 steps.

Which famous pizza spots do I get to try?

You’ll taste traditional pizzas and walk by landmark pizzerias: the quest includes L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Artigian’ pizzeria friggitoria, Pizzeria Brandi, and even experiment with the famous “wallet pizza.”

Neapolitan pizza context

A living craft, not only a famous recipe

UNESCO recognizes the art of the Neapolitan pizzaiuolo as an intangible cultural practice transmitted through workshops, families and the community of Naples. The tradition includes dough preparation, shaping, oven work and performance, not simply a list of ingredients. This quest uses an original story to explore the city where that living craft developed. Playable languages: English, Italian.
