Frequently asked questions

Where does the Croydon walking tour start and finish?
The walk starts at East Croydon Station and loops back there at the end, so it is easy to arrive and leave by train. On the way it passes Fairfield Halls, the Town Hall, Croydon Minster, Reeves Corner and several smaller finds in the town centre.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Allow about an hour and a quarter of walking and puzzle solving over roughly 2.8 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so stopping for a coffee or lingering at a place you like will not spoil the game.
Can we do it in the evening or in bad weather?
It is best played in daylight. Several clues are small details on buildings and streets that are difficult to spot in the dark. The whole route is outdoors in the town centre, so dress for the weather on the day you go.
Is it suitable for children?
It is not designed as a family quest, so it suits older children and teens who like stories and puzzles best. The clues involve spotting details in the streets around you, and the 2.8 km distance may feel long for small children.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book. Start whenever you like on your phone, with no guide and no other group to join. One ticket covers your whole group, so friends or family can follow the story and solve the clues together.
