Frequently asked questions

Where does the Kazimierz quest start, and how do I find my way around the Jewish quarter?
You start at the Plac Nowy Okrąglak Rotunda, and the app guides you from stop to stop, so you do not need your own map. The route is a loop that finishes at Alchemia, bringing you back to where you began.
What is the treasure hunt in Kraków like?
It is a self-guided walk played on your phone. At each place the app tells its story and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you, as you search for clues about a mystical hero. Stops include the Old Synagogue, plac Wolnica, the Kazimierz Historical Mural and Remuh Cemetery.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take close to three hours, including walking and puzzles, over a 4.7 km route. It is best played during the day. You can pause whenever you like, for a coffee or a longer break, and continue later from where you stopped.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a family can follow the route, read the stories and solve the puzzles side by side on the walk through Kazimierz.
Do we need to book a start time?
No. There is no group to join and no guide to meet, so you can start at the Plac Nowy rotunda whenever it suits you. Daylight is the best time to play, as recommended for this route.
Is Jewish District Krakow: Magic of Past & Present self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you between locations without a tour guide or fixed departure. You can start when it suits you and pause if needed.

Kazimierz context

Jewish life before, during and after catastrophe

Kazimierz became a major center of Jewish religious and cultural life, with synagogues, schools and businesses existing beside Christian institutions. Nazi occupation destroyed the community through forced removal, ghettoization and murder. Today’s revival includes both living Jewish institutions and tourism. This quest connects past and present without turning Holocaust memory into “magic” or mystery. Playable languages: English, German.
