Glasshouses, parkland and a university skyline
Glasgow Botanic Gardens began in 1817 and moved to their current site in the 1840s. Their best-known structure, Kibble Palace, started as a private conservatory before being moved and rebuilt in the gardens in 1873. The wider West End also brings together the River Kelvin, Kelvingrove Park and the University’s Gilmorehill buildings.
