Is there an app-based city game for Ghent?
Yes. This quest is played on your phone. The app leads you from place to place through the old centre, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, so you can start whenever you like.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Kouter 172 and finishes at Gravensteen, so it does not return to the start. Along the 3.4 km route you pass Gerard the Devil, the Van Eyck Brothers monument, the Town hall, the Belfort, the Leie guild houses, Vrijdagmarkt and Dulle Griet, among other stops.
How long does it take?
Most players take around 160 minutes, so plan for close to three hours including walking and solving the puzzles. You can pause at any point and continue later if you want a break for lunch or a coffee along the way.
Is it suitable for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is recommended for families and works well with school-age children who enjoy solving puzzles while exploring. You can play together as a group, and one ticket covers everyone playing together on the same quest.
Do we need to book a time slot?
No. You start whenever suits you, with no fixed departure and no guide to meet. The route is outdoors through the city centre and is best played during the day, when the streets and monuments are easiest to see.
Is Historic Ghent a guided city tour?
