The mission: Your story in Santa Barbara

During the year 1818 in Santa Barbara, Joaquín Moreno, a young gaucho of Spanish descent, felt the winds of change blowing through the sprawling ranchos and rolling hills he called home.

The pirate raid at Refugio Shore was brutal, pillaging and burning the Ortega family's ranch, killing cattle, and destroying property. Joaquín, hearing the news, felt a deep fear for Santa Barbara, knowing the pirates might soon target his beloved town. That day, his life would change forever.
