What is the Questo AI game in Leuven?
It is a self-guided outdoor puzzle game played on your phone. In the story, AI has taken over the world and only Leuven is resisting. You prove you are human by solving puzzles at ten stops in the city centre, then claim the key that saves your city from AI control.
Where does the game start and finish?
It starts at Dorre The Baker and finishes at Ladeuzeplein, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass the Old Market, The Japanese Honey Tree, The Rector, Kattenpomp, Hooverplein, Erasmustuin and Ravenstraat, covering about 2.8 km on foot.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take about two hours, walking and puzzles included. There is no fixed slot to book, so you can start whenever suits you, pause along the way and continue later. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank, and pen and paper are useful for the puzzles.
Can we play as a group or as a couple?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route, and the game is noted as fun to do as a couple. Friends can split up the puzzle work, since all the information you need to solve each challenge can be found at the location itself.
Can we play in the evening or during events?
The route is open 24/7, but it is better in daylight because some puzzles are easier to solve when you can see clearly. One challenge can be blocked during events on Hooverplein, for example Leuven Kermis from 5 to 24 September, so check the calendar before you go.
