The experience

About this quest

Experience Genoa like never before -this interactive adventure leads you through both the city's most famous landmarks and its hidden treasures.

Perfect for visistors and locals as well, each stops reveals fascinating curiosities and lesser-known stories.Adding a playful twist, the game plays humorously on Genoa's reputation for thrift -much like Scots- turning your exploration into a witty celebration of frugality.

Are you ready to begin?

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Puzzle lovers visiting Genoa, and locals who can laugh at the city's reputation for thrift, get a walk of a little over two hours. It runs from the Castelletto lift and Via Garibaldi to San Lorenzo Cathedral and Columbus's house, with quieter corners in between. Couples and families with school-age children will enjoy it. If 3.4 km of hills and uneven ground sounds hard going, pick a flatter route.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Santo Stefano Abbey and ends back at the same place, so you finish where you began. In between you pass the Castelletto Elevator, Via Garibaldi, San Matteo, San Giorgio Palace, San Lorenzo Cathedral, Piazza de Ferrari and the House of Christopher Columbus.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Plan on a little over two hours for about 3.4 km, including time at each stop to hear the story and solve the puzzle. You can pause whenever you like, stop for a coffee or lunch, and pick up the game again later from where you left off.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is tagged as family friendly, and the humour about Genoese thrift and the puzzles at each stop work well for school-age children. The route has hills and varied terrain, including a ride on the Castelletto lift, so children need to be comfortable walking 3.4 km.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet. You start whenever you are ready on your phone, and one ticket covers your whole group, so friends or family can solve the puzzles together as you walk.
Can we do it at any time of day?
The route is open 24/7, but it is better in daylight, when the streets, churches and palaces are easier to see and the clues are easier to spot. The whole quest is outdoors, so bring suitable clothing if rain is forecast.
Is the lost code based on a real Genoa mystery?
No. The code and mission are fictional; Genoa’s real streets and locations are the setting for the adventure.
Is this a guided Genoa tour?
No. The app guides the clues and story, with no guide, group or fixed start time to follow.
How many tickets does our group need?
This classic quest sells access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
