Whitby: The Wreck of the Demeter, a Dracula Mystery Walk
The experience
About this quest
A Dracula mystery walk through Whitby, the harbour town where Bram Stoker set the Count's arrival in England. Play a Victorian reporter investigating a ship wrecked with its captain dead at the wheel and its crew missing.
Solve eight puzzles hidden in the real town, from carvings and plaques to the 199 Steps. Each one unlocks a true Whitby story and a piece of the captain's log. Around 90 minutes, self-guided, start any time.
What makes this quest special
Highlights
Start at Whitby Station, cross the Swing Bridge into the old town, and follow the trail past the Old Town Hall and along Church Street to Tate Hill Sands, where the ship struck.
Then climb the 199 Steps to St Mary's churchyard and finish facing Whitby Abbey, where the last page of the log names what came ashore.
