Frequently asked questions
Where does the San Marcos detective game start?
The route begins at the spot marked Point 1 LBC, and the app guides you from there. You do not meet anyone at the start: once you are on site, open the game on your phone and the whistleblower's first clue sets you on your way.
How long does it take and how far will we walk?
Plan on around 90 minutes for a walk of about 2.5 km, including time spent working out the clues and codes. Your pace is up to you, so groups who like to linger over each puzzle may take a little longer.
Is it suitable for kids?
It is aimed at adults and families with teens. The story is a spy-style mystery about a powerful secret society, and the puzzles involve reading clues and cracking codes, so teenagers tend to enjoy it most. Younger children would need plenty of help from the adults.
Can we play as a group on one ticket?
Yes, one ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest. Friends, couples and families can solve the mystery together, sharing ideas as you follow the trail.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking slot is needed. You can start any day at any time that suits you, with no guide or other groups to wait for. If you want a coffee break or need to stop, pause the game and continue later from where you left off.
