The experience

About this quest

Paris hides more than beauty—it hides secrets. As George Curious, a history student with a skeptical mind, you're about to tumble down a rabbit hole of ancient spells, forgotten symbols, and the whispered legend of the philosopher’s stone.

It all begins with a lazy afternoon and your friend Lola’s wild obsession with alchemy and esoteric lore. But curiosity quickly turns into a real-world adventure. Solve puzzles, follow cryptic clues, and walk through hidden corners of Paris that pulse with mystery.

Bring a friend, open your mind, and prepare to question everything. The magic isn’t just in the story—it’s in the journey you’ll share.

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Friends curious about alchemy, esoteric symbols and the legend of the philosopher's stone will follow a skeptical history student's story through central Paris, from Nicolas Flamel's house past Notre-Dame and the Saint-Jacques Tower and back, solving cryptic clues at each stop. It takes about an hour over 3.6 km. Anyone who wants a live guide to question about occult history, or who would rather skip puzzles, should choose another walk.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a Paris history walk I can do with an app?
Yes. It is a self-guided walk played on your phone. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place through the lens of alchemy and esoteric lore, and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide, and you can start any time.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Nicolas Flamel's house and loops back to finish there. On the way you pass stops including The Lady and the Unicorn, Notre-Dame, the palm tree fountain at Châtelet and the Saint-Jacques Tower, so you end up back where you began.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Plan on about an hour of play over a route of 3.6 km through central Paris. You can pause whenever you like, for a coffee or a closer look at a building, and continue later from where you stopped.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated for the quest, so friends can play together. There is no time slot to book and no group to join: you start whenever you arrive at the first stop.
Is the route affected by any construction work?
The route may be affected by temporary ongoing construction work in parts of central Paris. It is worth allowing a little extra time in case a street or square along the way is partly closed while you walk.
Is Mystical Paris about real magic?
The quest uses Parisian stories of alchemy, symbols and esoteric lore as inspiration. Its George Curious adventure and philosopher’s-stone mystery are fictional.
Is this experience self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you from clue to clue, with no guide or fixed start time. You can begin when it suits you and pause along the way.
How many accesses does our group need?
Classic quests sell access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
