Where does the Oz game in Ottawa start and finish?
It starts and ends at the Confederation Building. In between, the route takes you past Parliament at Queen St, the Bank of Canada Museum, the old Canadian Bank of Commerce, the House of Commons, the former US embassy, the Famous Five Statue and the Centennial Flame.
What is the Oz game about?
You join a team of misfits in a new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's original Oz novel from 1900, and try to outsmart the witch by solving puzzles at each location. Original Oz-themed songs made for the game play in the app, and you can listen again at home.
How is this different from booking an indoor escape room?
The puzzle-solving and teamwork are the same, but you play outdoors on Ottawa's streets using your phone. There is no fixed time slot to book, so you start whenever your group is ready, and one ticket covers your whole group. You can also play solo and compete on the leaderboard.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Plan on around 90 minutes for a walk of about 2.5 km that loops back to where you started. You can pause at any point and continue later, so a coffee break or a stop to look around does not end the game.
Is it outdoors, and what if it rains?
The whole game is played outdoors, moving between monuments, statues and historic buildings around Parliament Hill and downtown. Dress for the weather, and if it turns bad you can pause the game and pick it up again on a drier day.
Is The Oz Escape in Ottawa self-guided?
