Frequently asked questions
Is there an outdoor escape room in Edinburg, TX?
Yes. This is an escape-room-style game played outdoors on the UTRGV campus in Edinburg. Your phone leads you between campus buildings and plazas, tells an Oz story and sets puzzles you solve using what is around you, either as a team or solo against the leaderboard.
Where does the game start and finish?
It starts at the UTRGV Visitors Center and finishes back there, so you end where you began. In between you visit stops such as Dr. John Abraham Plaza, the Science Research Building, the Student Services Building and the Arts and Humanities Building.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Plan on around 90 minutes, covering roughly 2 km on foot across campus. You can pause the game at any point and pick it up again later, so breaks for food or a rest do not cost you your progress.
Do we need to book a time slot, and can we play as a group?
There is no booking slot, so you can start whenever suits you. One ticket covers your whole group, and you work through the puzzles together on your phones, which makes it an easy option for friends, families, birthdays or work outings.
Is it suitable for kids?
It works best for families with teens or older children who enjoy riddles and teamwork, since the challenges are escape-room-style puzzles. Younger children can join in but will likely need adults to help solve the clues and keep up with the 2 km walk.
