Barcelona

Plaça Reial stands as one of Barcelona's most elegant and atmospheric squares, a masterpiece of 19th-century neoclassical design. This magnificent plaza was designed by Francesc Daniel Molina between 1848 and 1859, creating a harmonious space surrounded by arcaded buildings that offer shelter and intimacy despite the square's generous dimensions. At the heart of Plaça Reial stands the beautiful Three Graces fountain, a focal point that draws visitors and residents alike. The square's distinctive character comes from its manicured palm trees, which add a Mediterranean touch to the neoclassical architecture. A remarkable historical detail enriches this location: Plaça Reial was the site of Antoni Gaudí's first public commission, the two ornate lampposts designed in 1879 with an innovative six-armed design that showcased his distinctive aesthetic sensibilities before he became famous. These lampposts have become iconic symbols of Barcelona's architectural heritage. The plaza has long served as a gathering place for locals and tourists, hosting markets, celebrations, and quiet moments of reflection. Whether you're enjoying a meal at one of the surrounding cafes, admiring the architectural harmony, or simply soaking in the ambiance, Plaça Reial captures the essence of Barcelona's refined urban design. Exploring with Questo reveals the architectural significance and historical layering that makes this square eternally captivating.

Casa Bruno Cuadros on La Rambla was once an umbrella shop and still advertises the fact, with parasols fixed to the facade and a Chinese dragon holding a lantern out over the street. Almost everyone walks underneath it without looking up.
