Is this a Sydney jail or convict history tour?
It is a convict history walk rather than a prison visit. You play as a former convict trying to build a new life in 19th-century Australia, following clues through the streets of The Rocks from the harbour and Cadmans Cottage to Observatory Hill and the Garrison Church.
Does the walk stop at Cadman's Cottage?
Yes. Cadmans Cottage is the sixth stop, after Customs House, First Fleet Park with its concrete map, the Tank Stream Fountain, the Suez Canal laneway and Greenway Lane. Campbell's Stores and George Street follow, so the cottage sits within the story of early colonial Sydney.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Customs House and finishes at Dawes Point, so it does not return to the start. Along the 2.9 km route you pass Kendal Lane, Foundation Park, Observatory Hill, the Garrison Church and the Hero of Waterloo before reaching the harbour at Dawes Point.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take about two and a half hours, walking and puzzles included. You can start any time with no booking, and you can pause and continue later. The quest is best played during the day, when the lanes and views of The Rocks are easiest to enjoy.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, with the app leading you from stop to stop on a phone. There is no guide and no group to join, so you set off whenever you are ready and walk at your own pace.
