We are a group of language students and we played the game with our teacher: a great and fun way to practise, and learn interesting stuff about our city that we didn't know.

We had a great day on Monday, thanks in large part to Questo. Thank you so much for everything, from the clear communication beforehand to a very smooth user experience on the day itself.

For teachers

How a school day works

  1. Step 1

    Pick a quest by age

Every quest shows the youngest class it suits: Ages 8+, 11+ or 14+. The teacher plays it from home first, free.

  2. Step 2

Split the class into teams of 3 to 5

One phone per team. Teams start a few minutes apart from the same spot.

  3. Step 3

    Walk, read, solve, regroup

60 to 120 minutes, 2 to 4 km, then compare scores back at the meeting point.

Research

The case for the head of year

Small teams solve harder problems

Groups of three to five beat their best individual member; structured collaborative learning is rated at about five months of extra progress a year.

Moving does not cost learning

Of 251 measured links between physical activity in the school day and results, 1.5% were negative.

Pupils come back more engaged

In England's largest outdoor-learning project (125 schools), 92% of teachers saw pupils more engaged outside and 85% saw better behaviour.

Teacher FAQ

Questions teachers ask

How much does it cost?
€5 per pupil per quest. Teachers and chaperones are free. A class of 30 on one quest pays €150, by card or by invoice to the school.
What ages are the quests for?
Each quest shows the youngest class it suits: Ages 8+, 11+ or 14+. A quest marked 8+ works for a sixth form too; a quest marked 14+ has a darker story and is kept for older pupils. Quests with adult themes are left out of the school lists. University societies and orientation weeks are welcome as well.
How many phones do we need?
One per team of 3 to 5 pupils, with the Questo app installed and mobile data. A class of 30 needs 6 to 10 phones. A charged power bank per team helps on a two-quest day.
Do we need to book a time?
No. There are no departure times. Each team starts when it reaches the start point, any day and any time that suits the class.
How do teachers supervise the teams?
Teams play on their own phone, so adults stay with or near them. We suggest one adult for every two teams for ages 8 to 11 and one for every three teams from 11 up, with agreed meeting points along the route. For 14 to 18, follow your school's policy for unaccompanied groups.
Can we pay by invoice?
Yes. The quickest way is by card: choose a quest and pay €5 per student, for as many students as you need. To pay by bank transfer, send the number of students, the city and the dates through the form and we send an invoice to the school.

Prefer to pay by bank transfer?

Tell us the quest or city, the class size and the dates. We send an invoice to the school.

We reply by email from finance@questoapp.com.
