If you would rather have a live guide to answer questions, or need to stay indoors, choose something else, as it takes about two hours outside.

Is the West Mersea walk coastal?
Partly, yes. The route runs from the centre of West Mersea to the historic harbour and along part of the coastline, passing Dabchicks Sailing Club, The Company Shed and The Victory at Mersea before heading back through town by St Peter's Well, the church and Mersea Museum.
What is there to do on Mersea Island?
This self-guided walk is one way to see West Mersea's town, harbour and seafront. On your phone it leads you between eleven stops, including The White Hart, the sailing club, St Peter & St Paul's Church and Mersea Museum, telling the story of each place and setting a challenge at every stop.
Where does the walk start and finish, and how long does it take?
It is a circular route that starts at West Mersea Library and finishes at West Mersea War Memorial. The distance is 2.9 km, and most players take about two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles along the way.
Can we play as a group and take breaks?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no set start time and no group to join, so you can begin whenever suits you, pause for a drink or a meal on the way, and continue later.
Are the puzzles hard?
The challenges range from easy to fiendish, so there is a mix for different players. If you get stuck, hints are available in the app, which helps families and first-timers keep moving between stops.
