Walk the streets through the eyes of its infamous destroyer Boudica, Queen of the Iceni, who burnt the city down. She’s back to see what the women of Colchester have achieved since her death.
On this tour you’ll meet some of Colchester’s exceptional women, solving my fiendish riddles along the way. Discover suffragettes, an eccentric 16th-century philosopher, Colchester’s first female mayor and even another Queen.

In walking order: Colchester War Memorial, Foundation House, West Stockwell Street, Colchester Town Hall, The Bull, Southway Subway, St John's Abbey Gate, Abbeygate Street Subway, St Botolph's Priory and The Minories. At each stop the app tells the story of the place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
The route is a loop of about 2.8 km, starting at Colchester War Memorial and finishing at The Minories. Most players take around two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles, so allow a relaxed afternoon or morning.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or family can follow the route on a phone, read Boudica's stories and work out the riddles as a team without needing separate tickets.
