How does this Sydney treasure hunt work?
You play on your phone. The app leads you between 11 stops in central Sydney, tells you about each place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. Clue by clue you work out who took the Golden Shamrock: Rusty the leprechaun, pub owner Finn McGuire or the mayor.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The hunt starts at the State Library of New South Wales, 1 State Library. Allow around 90 minutes to walk the 2.1 km route and solve the puzzles, though you can go at your own pace and take breaks along the way.
Does the route pass Angel Place?
Yes, Angel Place is one of the stops. The route also takes in the Richard Johnson Obelisk, the Dobell Memorial Sculpture, the Lloyd Rees Fountain, St James Square, Il Porcellino and the Matthew Flinders Statue.
Is it good for kids?
The story is light-hearted, built around a lost lucky shamrock, a leprechaun and a town where luck has gone wrong. It is played mostly by adults and mixed-age families, so children who can read and follow clues will get the most out of it with an adult helping on the puzzles.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
