Does the route stop at Cadman's Cottage?
Yes. Cadman's Cottage is one of the stops, reached after Campbell's Stores and before Greenway Lane. The app tells the story of the place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you, as part of the convict's journey through The Rocks.
Is this a Sydney jail tour?
Not in the sense of a visit inside a prison. You step into the shoes of a former convict trying to build a new life in 19th-century Australia, and follow that story outdoors through the streets, lanes, parks and historic buildings of The Rocks.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts and ends at Customs House, so you finish where you began. In between you pass Dawes Point, the Hero of Waterloo, the Garrison Church, Observatory Hill, Foundation Park, George Street, Cadman's Cottage, the Tank Stream Fountain and the concrete map in First Fleet Park.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Plan for about two hours to cover 2.9 km with 14 stops. You do not have to finish in one go: you can pause the quest at any point and continue later from where you stopped, which is handy for a coffee or lunch break in The Rocks.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
No booking or set time is needed. Start whenever you like, though the walk is best done during the day. There is no guide or group to join, and one ticket covers your whole group up to the number of devices stated.
