Couples, friends and families with older children who enjoy ancient myths, conspiracy theories and a lost-treasure hunt will spend around two and a half hours spotting clues in landmarks from the Town Hall to the National War Memorial. How do I do this Adelaide quest?
You play it on your phone in the Questo app. Head to Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, start whenever you like, and the app guides you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join.
Can our group play together?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends, couples and families can walk the route and solve the puzzles side by side on the same game. It works well for couples and for families with older children.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga and finishes at Light Square, so it is not a loop. On the way you pass Adelaide Town Hall, Hindmarsh Square, the University of Adelaide, the South Australian Museum, the National War Memorial, the Adelaide Festival Centre and Hindley Street.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around two and a half hours, including walking and solving puzzles. The route covers about 3.9 km through the city centre. You can pause along the way and continue later, so there is no need to rush.
Is it suitable for kids, and when is the best time to go?
It is family friendly and best suited to older children who can manage a 3.9 km walk and enjoy puzzles. The route is open 24/7, but daylight hours are better. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank, as the quest includes audio stories.
