This Questo Discovery game takes you on a tour of Central Greenock, a town on the West Coast of Scotland and describes the days and nights of the 6th/7th May 1941 when Nazi Germany attacked it with its bombers. 

Looking at the photographs of the damage caused, you will hear stories from those that survived the attacks as well as look at how the town has changed as a result.

Your host is Vincent Gillen, a local Social Historian, who has written extensively about the Greenock Blitz and WW2.

This 1.5 km loop from Clyde Square through central Greenock passes Cartsburn Yard, Rue End Street and Cathcart Square, setting photos of the May 1941 bomb damage against today's streets. Inverclyde locals, people with Greenock family roots and WW2 enthusiasts get survivors' stories from a local historian in about an hour. Families after a light game for small children should look elsewhere, as this follows two nights of bombing raids.

Is there a map of where the Greenock Blitz hit the town?
The app leads you on foot between the sites, so the route works as a walking map of the raids in central Greenock. Stops include William Street, Cartsburn Yard, The Beacon, Rue End Street, Duff Street and Cathcart Square, starting and finishing at Clyde Square.
Does the tour show pictures of the Blitz damage?
Yes. At the stops you look at photographs of the damage caused on 6 and 7 May 1941 and compare them with what stands there now, seeing how the town changed as a result. You also hear stories from people who survived the attacks.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
It starts and ends at Clyde Square, so it is a loop of about 1.5 km with 11 stops. Allow about an hour. Temporary construction work in the town centre may affect parts of the route, so follow the app if anything has changed.
Do we need to book a time or buy entry tickets?
No time slot is needed: start whenever you like and pause to continue later. No attraction tickets are required along the route, and one ticket covers your whole group, so you can walk it together at your own pace with your local historian host in the app.
