Sofia Church
About Sofia Church
Sofia Kyrka is one of the main architectural attractions in the "trendy" Södermalm neighborhood. It was named after Queen Sofia of Nassau, the consort of King Oscar II of Sweden. The church was designed by architect Gustaf Hermansson and was completed in 1906.
Built in a Neo-Gothic style, with an exterior made of red brick with white detailing and stained glass windows, the church has a seating capacity of around 900 people and is a popular venue for concerts and other cultural events. It also has a strong connection to the Swedish royal family and hosted several royal weddings and baptisms over the years.
