Yes. This is a self-guided puzzle walk through the Zaanse Schans, played on your phone. Over 2.1 km you pass wooden houses, little bridges and working mills, solving clues hidden in what is in front of you and uncovering the secrets the locals kept.
How does this orientation quest in Zaanstad work?
The app leads you from place to place in walking order, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle based on what you can see there. There is no guide and no group to join, so you can start whenever you like and pause to continue later.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at the Museum of the Dutch Clock and finishes at Oil Mill De Bonte Hen, so it does not end where it began. Most players take just under two hours for the 2.1 km, walking and puzzles included, passing stops such as the Lookout tower and Spice Mill De Huisman.
Is it good for kids?
It is recommended as a family activity. Children old enough to follow clues and enjoy solving puzzles will get the most from it, and they should be comfortable walking around 2 km over just under two hours. It is best played during the day.
