What is the Guardian quest in Tallinn?
It is a self-guided fantasy game played on your phone in Tallinn Old Town. A sorcerer has cursed the city, and you play the apprentice of a captured Guardian. You use a magical amulet and clues, solving puzzles at each stop to build its power and break the curse.
Does the route pass through St Catherine's Passage in Tallinn?
Yes. St Catherine's Passage is the second stop, straight after the start at Viru Gate. The app leads you there, tells you the story of the place and sets a puzzle based on what you see, before you continue on to Town Hall Square.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Viru Gate and finishes at the Kohtuotsa Viewing Platform, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass Town Hall Square, the Great Guild and Kanuti Guild halls, the Museum of Puppetry Arts, Pikk Jalg, the Danish King's Garden and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
How long does it take and is it good for kids?
Most players take around 1 hour 45 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over 2.1 km. It is tagged family friendly and suits children of about 8 to 14, who tend to enjoy the curse-breaking story and solving the clues alongside adults.
