In 'Match the Picture: A Stony Brook Trail', players are invited to see the world through refreshed eyes, tracing the footsteps of a man who, for the longest time, was blinded to the beauty around him by the monotony of routine. 

Each day, he walked a path filled with the vibrant tapestry of nature but never truly saw it. But after a transformative day at work and the forging of a new friendship, his eyes open wide to the wonders of his daily journey. 

As participants navigate the scenic trail, they are challenged to match pictures of captivating vistas, flourishing flora, and serene waterways, all while rediscovering the magic that exists in everyday moments and the importance of truly seeing.

Families with school-age children, couples and nature and photo lovers will enjoy matching pictures to the real views at Avalon Park's labyrinth, Harmony Vineyards, Fox Meadow and Mills Pond, following a man who finally learns to see his daily walk. Skip it if you can only go after dark or would rather not spend about two hours on 3.4 km of trail.

Yes. This walk is played on your phone: the app leads you through ten stops, from A Taste of Wildlife in Stony to Flowerfield Station, tells the story of each place and asks you to match pictures to the views in front of you. It is free to play and you can start any time.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at A Taste of Wildlife in Stony and finishes at Flowerfield Station, so it does not return to the start. Along the way you pass The Labyrinth at Avalon Park, Harmony Vineyards, Avalon Barn, Fox Meadow, Birdsfoot Farm, North Country Road, Mills Pond and Flowerfield.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Most players take about two hours, including walking and solving the picture puzzles. The route covers 3.4 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so there is no need to finish it in one go or book a time slot.
Is it good for kids?
It suits families with school-age children. The puzzles ask you to match pictures to real views of meadows, farms, the vineyard and the pond, which works well for children who like spotting details. Plan for around two hours on foot, which may be long for younger children.
Can we play it in the evening?
It is best played in daylight. The route runs outdoors through parkland, meadows and along North Country Road, and the puzzles depend on seeing the views clearly, so playing at night is not recommended. Choose a time when you have about two hours of daylight left.
