In this self-guided walking tour of Porto's Old Town, you follow Mário through the cobbled streets of the Ribeira, past São Bento Station, up through the narrow lanes of the medieval quarter and along the grand Avenida dos Aliados, gathering facts and scoops that could make the front page.
Discover the tale of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese diplomat who saved 30,000 Jews from Nazi-occupied France, the story of Prince Henry the Navigator, the legends of the Church of the Crickets, and what happened to the people of Porto when the Siege nearly broke the city.

Yes. The route runs through the historic centre: São Bento Station, the Ribeira riverside with the Infante Dom Henrique monument, the medieval lanes with Torre da Rua de Baixo and the Rua das Aldas viewpoint, then the Vímara Peres statue, São João National Theater, the Coliseum and Avenida dos Aliados.

You play Mário, a paperboy in 1942 with a journalist's ambition. At each stop the app tells the story of the place and sets a puzzle, and you gather facts and scoops that could make the front page, including the story of the Portuguese diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at São Bento Station and finishes at Igreja de Santo António dos Congregados, right by the station, so the walk ends where it began. Temporary construction work may affect parts of the route, and the app guides you from stop to stop.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take about three hours, walking and puzzles included, over roughly 3.1 km. You can pause at any point, for a coffee or a break, and continue later from where you stopped.
