On your first day as a new hire at the ​New London Nuclear Power Plant, you’re assigned to Reactor 4 – an old, dark, and grungy section known for its flawless safety record... until today.

Suddenly, a catastrophic Code Red emergency! Alarms blare, bells ring, and smoke fills the plant.

You must repair all critical systems and stabilize the nuclear core before disaster strikes.

Escape room fans, friends, couples and families with older children or teens get a fictional nuclear plant emergency to solve with medium-level puzzles, on a free walk of about two hours and 3.3 km through downtown New London past the Maritime Museum and Eugene O'Neill's statue. Anyone wanting a guided history tour or a quick stroll should pick something else, since the story is invented and the walk fills most of an afternoon.

Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Shekinah and finishes at Church Of Our Redeemer, so it does not end where it began. On the way you pass St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, the Historical Society, the Maritime Museum, Eugene O'Neill's Statue, St. James Episcopal Church and Williams Park, among other stops.
How long does the outdoor escape game take?
Most players take about two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers around 3.3 km through downtown New London. You can pause at any point and continue later if you need a break or want to split it up.
Is it suitable for kids?
The puzzles are rated medium difficulty, so it works best for older children and teens who enjoy problem solving. The story is a fictional plant emergency with alarms and smoke, told as a game rather than anything frightening, and younger children may need a lot of help with the puzzles.
Can we play as a group, and does it cost anything?
Yes, it is free to play. Friends, couples and families can play together, working through the story and puzzles as a team on their phones while walking the route through downtown New London.
Do we need to book a time slot?
