Starting and finishing at Jungfernstieg, this 4.4 km loop casts you as a shipwrecked Columbus, solving puzzles past the Elbphilharmonie, Cap San Diego and St. Michael's Church. Families with school-age children and groups of friends get a playful outdoor game through central Hamburg in about two and a half hours. If you want a live guide, or have toddlers who will not last 4.4 km of walking, pick something else.

What is the Columbus game in Hamburg?
It is a self-guided walking game played on your phone. You are Christopher Columbus, shipwrecked with your friend Arthur and stranded in a Hamburg that feels like a strange new world. To rejoin your ship, you follow clues and solve puzzles set in the streets, bridges and landmarks in front of you.
What route does the walk take from Jungfernstieg?
You start at Jungfernstieg and head to the Elbphilharmonie, Niederbaumbrücke, Cap San Diego, Blockbräu and the Portuguese quarter, then St. Michael's Church, St. Nicholas, Mühlenbrücke, the Town Hall and the Passagenviertel. The loop is 4.4 km and ends back at Jungfernstieg.
How long does it take, and do we need to book a time?
Plan for about 2.5 hours including walking and puzzles. There is no fixed time slot or guide, so you can start whenever you like. You can also pause along the way, for a coffee or a rest, and continue later from where you stopped.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is family friendly and works best for school-age children who can follow the story and help with the puzzles. It is all outdoors over 4.4 km, so bring water, a hat and sunscreen on warm days, and make sure your phone is fully charged or carry a power bank.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers your whole group, so friends or family can walk together, read the story and solve the clues as a team. Mornings are a good time to go if you want to avoid the heat.
