This 2 km loop starts and ends at Alexandra Dance Hall, passing the Esker Foundation, the Mountie Statue at Fort Calgary and the Bronze Bison Sculpture over around 90 minutes of puzzles inspired by Baum's 1900 Oz novel. Oz fans, friends, couples and families who like solving clues will enjoy it, and solo players can chase the leaderboard. Anyone wanting a warm indoor room should choose a traditional escape room.

Is this an outdoor escape room in Calgary?
Yes. It is an escape-room-style game played outdoors on your phone. Clues lead you to each new location on a walk of about 2 km through Calgary streets, parks and sculptures, and you crack puzzles using what you find in front of you rather than inside a locked room.
What is the Oz game about?
You join a team of misfits and try to outsmart the witch in a new story inspired by L. Frank Baum's original Oz novel from 1900. Along the way you hear original Oz-themed songs made for the game, which you can also play in the app once you get home.
Where does it start and how long does it take?
The route starts and ends at Alexandra Dance Hall, so you finish where you began. It covers about 2 km with stops such as the Esker Foundation, the Merlin Block and Fort Calgary, and takes around 90 minutes. You can pause and pick it up again later.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers your whole group, up to the number of devices stated, so friends or family can solve the puzzles together. There is no time slot to book and no guide to meet. Start whenever suits you, or play solo and compete on the leaderboard.
What if it rains?
The whole game is outdoors, with stops in Jack Long Park and at sculptures such as The Circle of Life, so dress for the weather. Because you can pause and continue later, you can also stop for a break and finish the route another time.
